The Way Ahead - Activities and Goals

The Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) has been busy for 40 years and the Stratford upon Avon RDA are proud to say that we have been there from the start.

To build on the Group's achievements, our aims include sourcing sufficient volunteers and suitable horses & ponies to enable us to provide our riders with:

  • A safe, secure & stimulating learning environment
  • An opportunity to develop their riding skills within their own capabilities
  • An enjoyable experience

In addition to the regular riding sessions, our riders are invited to other events throughout the year.

Regional Dressage & Fun Days - These are organised by RDA & involves riders at all levels. Each year we have riders who compete in dressage, handy pony & gymkhana games, as well as “fancy hat” & horse management competitions. Success at regional level qualifies riders for National Championships held in July. We are proud to say several of our riders have qualified for the Nationals in recent years.

Childrens Picnic Ride - This is a highlight of the summer term, when children & ponies are taken to a safe environment where they can ride in the countryside, followed by a picnic. Always great fun!

RDA National Holiday - The Group sponsors adults to attend a week’s holiday at a dedicated RDA centre, where they ride & look after their horses, gaining more confidence in both their riding & socially. The rides to the pub are particularly popular!

Group outing - Each summer a day out is arranged & all riders, helpers, sponsors, donors & supporters are invited along. A great opportunity to get together & have some fun.

So what is next for us?
